In the class titled "Practicum" seniors from all areas, Painting, Drawing,
Ceramics, Sculpture, and Photography work independently in the medium of their
choice. I run the class, but the entire faculty and visitors (listed below)
hold four group critiques with each student. Students are encouraged to develop
a line of inquiry that they pursue for the entire year. This guides them to
focus, but leaves open the possibility of discovery and change. Students are put
into a "pressure cooker" environment of very diverse faculty and student voices.
The goal of this class is help students use the competencies learned in lower
level classes to develop their own independent artistic voices.
